When the team at Hyundai Lahore needed scheduled tank cleaning across their showroom premises, they called Cleaning Express. So did Tabaq Restaurants, Yasir Broast, and the kitchens at Latrium Hotel. We clean tanks for some of Lahore's biggest brands, and for hundreds of homes across DHA, Bahria Town, and Gulberg every quarter.

Why Lahore tanks need cleaning every 6 months
Lahore's water supply carries more sediment than most Pakistani cities. Groundwater pumps draw water through soil compromised by sewage seepage and decades of industrial activity. By the time water reaches your overhead or underground tank, it already contains particulates that settle to the floor.
Within weeks, those particulates become a sediment layer. Bacteria multiply in it. Algae form on the walls where light reaches. After 90 days, a slimy biofilm coats every interior surface.
This is how E.coli, Salmonella, and the bacteria responsible for typhoid and gastroenteritis enter your drinking water. Public health analyses across Pakistan link a significant share of household water-borne disease cases to contaminated tanks rather than the supply itself.
Six months is not an arbitrary cleaning frequency. It is the interval at which biofilm contamination remains controllable through standard cleaning. Past 12 months, the tank effectively becomes a bioreactor, and the cleaning required to restore it is significantly more expensive than maintenance cleaning. For broader residential hygiene, our home deep cleaning Lahore service pairs naturally with a 6-month tank schedule.
What "biofilm" actually does to your tank between cleanings
Most cleaning companies tell you to clean every six months. Few explain the biology that makes the timeline matter.
In the first 30 days after a clean, your tank looks fine. Fresh water is going in, what comes out tastes normal. But bacteria are already attaching themselves to the walls. They secrete a protective matrix, sticky molecules that anchor them in place and shield them from chlorine.
Between days 30 and 90, that matrix thickens into a true biofilm. You cannot see it from the inlet. The water still looks clear. But every glass you pour now contains low levels of bacterial discharge from the colony.
Between 90 and 180 days, the biofilm matures. New bacterial species colonise the layers below. Sludge accumulates in the corners. The tank water now carries odour, particularly noticeable when the tap runs after several hours of stillness.
Past 180 days, the biofilm is a multilayered ecosystem. Standard chlorine treatment no longer penetrates it. Mechanical scrubbing with a high-pressure jet becomes the only effective removal method.
This is why we recommend the 6-month interval. Not because tanks should be cleaned regularly in some general sense, but because at 180 days mechanical removal still works. At 365 days, you need a deep restoration clean costing two to three times more.
Tanks we clean: plastic, concrete, underground
We clean every type of water tank installed in Lahore homes and commercial premises.
Plastic water tanks. The standard 500 to 2,000-litre polyethylene tanks installed on roofs across most Lahore homes. These are the easiest to clean, but the lightweight plastic walls scratch if scrubbed incorrectly, leaving micro-grooves where bacteria establish faster. Our team uses non-abrasive scrubbers calibrated for plastic surfaces.
Concrete (RCC) overhead tanks. Typically 6×6 or 8×6 feet, common in older DHA villas and commercial buildings. Concrete walls absorb stains and develop persistent algae rings near the water line. These need acid wash treatment for stain removal followed by full antibacterial sanitisation.
Underground RCC tanks. Present in larger residential properties, factories, and hotels. Underground cleaning is a confined-space job. Our team uses oxygen monitors, ventilation equipment, and harness systems before any technician enters. We do not send anyone into a tank without confirming oxygen levels are safe.
We also handle industrial steel tanks for factory clients including Nimir Industries and AHY Chemicals. Industrial tanks require different chemical protocols and longer cleaning windows.
Our 7-step cleaning process
Every tank, residential or commercial, moves through the same seven steps:
Commercial tank cleaning for restaurants, hotels and factories
We clean tanks for several of Lahore's busiest restaurant operations, including Tabaq, Havali, Yasir Broast, and Poet Restaurant, alongside hotels, school canteens, and corporate cafeterias. Every clean is supervised, with before-and-after photographs of the tank interior provided to the client on request.
For multi-branch restaurant groups, we run scheduled rotation cleaning across locations so no branch falls outside the recommended six-month interval. For broader cleaning support across restaurants, offices, and showrooms, see our janitorial services for restaurants and offices.
How to confirm a tank cleaning quote
Every tank is different. Capacity, build material, access depth, and the time since the last clean all change the scope. WhatsApp us a photo of your tank with the rough dimensions (or just the tank's capacity in gallons), and we will give you a confirmed quote within an hour. For underground and commercial tanks, we may schedule a quick site visit first because access depth and surface condition cannot be judged from a photo alone.

Frequently asked questions
How often should I get my water tank cleaned in Lahore?
Every 6 months. This is the interval at which biofilm contamination is still removable through standard cleaning. Past 12 months, the tank requires a more expensive deep restoration clean.
What signs mean my water tank needs cleaning right now?
Visible particles or sediment in the water, a slimy film on tap aerators, an unusual taste or odour, or yellow-brown discolouration after the tap has been still for a few hours are all signs of biofilm or sediment buildup. If your last cleaning was more than six months ago and any of these signs are present, book a clean.
Is the cleaning chemical safe for drinking water?
Yes. We use food-grade chlorine-based sanitisation followed by multiple fresh water rinses. The water is safe for drinking and cooking immediately after cleaning.
How long does the cleaning take?
Plastic tanks: 2 to 3 hours. Concrete overhead tanks: 4 to 5 hours. Underground tanks: 5 to 8 hours. Most residential cleanings finish in a single visit and water supply is restored the same day.
Do you clean tanks for restaurants and factories?
Yes. We clean tanks for restaurants, hotels, factories and multi-site operators across Lahore. Scheduled rotation cleaning is available for chains with multiple locations.
